Two Primary Coverage Paths

Path 1: Original Medicare

Original Medicare includes Part A and Part B. You may add a standalone Part D plan for prescription drugs and may choose Medigap to help with certain out-of-pocket costs.

Path 2: Medicare Advantage

Medicare Advantage, also called Part C, is another way to receive your Part A and Part B benefits through a private plan. Many plans include Part D and may offer additional benefits. Networks and plan rules may apply.

Where Part D Fits

Part D is prescription drug coverage, not a third primary coverage path. With Original Medicare, you can choose a standalone Part D plan. Many Medicare Advantage plans include Part D, so you may receive drug coverage as part of the plan.

Compare Carefully

Focus on What Matters

The best fit depends on your doctors, prescriptions, travel needs, budget, and comfort with plan rules. Start with the coverage you need today, then consider how your needs may change.
